Registration for the 2023 Academy is now open! The deadline to register is June 5. After that time late registration applies.
*New This Year!* In addition to the traditional 3-day experience, this year we are excited to offer an optional 4th day for those students seeking additional conducting and leadership development.
The extended 4th day is geared primarily toward drum majors since it will be more focused on conducting, but any student is welcome to take advantage of this additional instruction. Benefits include:
Participants may choose either a residential or commuter option.
Residential students will be assigned double-occupancy dorm housing.
Traditional 3 Day Experience:
Residential students- $295 (late registration- $335)
Commuting students- $245 (late registration- $285)
Traditional 3 Day Experience + Optional 4th Day:
Residential students- $420 (late registration- $460)
Commuting students- $345 (later registration- $385)
The deadline to register is June 5, 2023. Late registration fees apply to anyone who registers after June 5. Late registration ends on June 12.

Parking on Campus
Students who intend to park on campus will be required to purchase a WMU Guest Parking Permit for an additional fee of $15. Permits will be available for purchase upon check-in on the first day of SLA. Resident students are discouraged from driving themselves and parking on campus.
Waivers and Forms
Please note, each student will be required to have a waiver on file releasing SLA from liability in the event the student contracts COVID-19, or any communicable disease, while at SLA. Additionally, students are required to submit a general waiver of liability, health form, and multimedia consent form. These forms will be included in the Information Packet that is provided to all enrolled students.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Refunds in full will be made with cancellations given more than 72 hours before the Academy begins, minus $25 service charge. Cancellations not made within 72 hours are not subject to a refund of any amount. Refunds are not given to students who begin the Academy but do not finish.
